Bryce Canyon National Park
Just 1 1/2 hours drive from Red Canyon Lodge Bed and Breakfast

Bryce Canyon National Park is just 1 1/2 hours drive from Red Canyon Lodge Bed and Breakfast.

Contained within the park is Bryce Canyon. Despite its name, this is not actually a canyon, but a giant natural amphitheater created by erosion along the eastern side of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Bryce is distinctive due to its unique geological structures, called hoodoos. "Hodoos" are formed when ice and rainwater wear away the weak limestone that makes up the topography of the area. The red, orange and white colors of the hoodoos provide spectacular views.

Because Bryce transcends 2000 feet of elevation, the park exists in three distinct climatic zones. This diversity of habitat provides for high biodiversity. At Bryce Canyon you there are more than 100 species of birds, dozens of mammals, and more than a thousand plant species.
